A 19-year-old management student was allegedly abducted and brutally assaulted with sticks and belts before being urinated upon in Uttar Pradesh’s Kanpur on Monday, police said.
A head constable and two youths were arrested in this connection on Tuesday while seven of the accused are absconding, it is learnt. The main accused, Himanshu Yadav, son of the arrested head constable Dharmendra Yadav (52), also remains at large, the police said.
The two other arrested accused are Nandu Dubey (23) and Ayush Mishra (25).
Additional Director General of Police (Kanpur zone) Akhil Kumar said a thorough investigation will be held into the head constable’s role in the alleged incident and strict legal and departmental action will be taken against him if found guilty.
A case was filed against 10 persons under charges of attempt to murder, kidnapping, rioting and unnatural offences. Raids are being conducted to nab the remaining seven accused, all in their twenties, the police said.
